Inch plants, also known as Tradescantia, are low-maintenance, trailing houseplants with vibrant foliage. Their name comes from the approximate one-inch spacing between leaf nodes.
Tradescantia are herbaceous perennials that come in both climbing and trailing varieties. They can grow up to 2 feet tall. The stems are usually succulent or semi-succulent, and the leaves are sometimes semi-succulent as well. The leaves are long, thin, and blade or spear shaped, measuring about 1 1/2 inches long. The flowers are typically white, pink, purple, or blue, with three petals.
